In sports, halftime is the break between two halves of a sports game primarily used for
rest, regrouping, and strategic adjustments for the athletes. It is a time where athletes
rehydrate, and coaches identify areas of improvement, and develop new strategies for
the second half. Even Jesus had to go to a place to rest, reset, and pray (Luke 5:15-16,
Mark 1:35). This is where Jesus prepared for the Sermon on the Mount and He also
prepared for the cross. In Isaiah 43:19 NLT states “For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”
As we enter the second half of 2025, it is imperative we take the time to seek God in prayer and His word, reset and regroup, listen for divine strategy and instruction, and reset as needed. We don’t want to miss the new thing God is doing; let’s prepare for what lies ahead and finish the rest of the year strong!
Prayer
God,
Thank You for bringing us this far.
As we pause in this moment, help us reset —
Clear our minds, calm our hearts, and renew our strength.
Whatever the first half held — success, struggle, or setbacks — we lay it down now.
Help us to learn from it, but not be held by it.
Fill us with fresh focus, fresh fire, and fresh faith.
Let us finish with courage, unity, and purpose.
We trust You with the rest.
Amen.
